1 Concept that made it Possible to show Mountains on the Map - Contour map

Have you ever noticed how the height of mountain valleys is sown so accurately in Maps?
“If you are wondering that what technology is behind this, then today’s blog is for you!”
“Today in this blog we know how the idea of Contour Map came into the world, who developed it and how it changed in today’s modern era!”
This story of contour map began in the 16th century ,when cartographers began using different colours and symbols to show elevation but this method was not very accurate
- A Dutch engineer name was Jakob van daivaintair in 1584, partially depicted elevation in some maps.
- In 17th century Edmond Halley used isographic lines to show the depth of sea.
The modern form of contour line was developed in the 18th century. Many Engineers and Scientists work on it, but the credit for first applying for it correctly goes to Nicholas cruquius and louis charles.
- In 1737 Nicholas cruquius use lines of equal hight to measure the depth of a river.
- In 1782 Louis Charles de Fourcroy prepared a map with contour lines for terrain.
Until the 19th century, use of contour map was limited, but some important events make it common.
- In starting of 19th century france use contour maps practically.
- In 1839 british survey department officially adopted it.

Contour lines on topographic maps are lines that connect points of equal elevation above a reference level, usually sea level. These lines help to represent the three-dimensional terrain of an area on a two-dimensional map. pic.twitter.com/j7ehlrpviC
